The 24-year-old stunned everyone present at the award ceremony in a one-shoulder coral lace dress. She accepted the honor of Favorite Comeback Athlete.

She tweeted later: “Cause immmm HAPPY!!!!!” She also shared a photo of her after the award on Instagram and captioned it as, “Hey West Coast!!! Tune in to Nickelodeon & watch the #kidschoicesports tonight at 8pm.”

The surfer was attacked by a 14-foot tiger shark last year on October 31 when she went for a morning surf along Tunnels Beach in Kauai. She was seen later lying on her surfboard. Her left arm was dangling in the water.

Her left arm was amputated, but this didn’t stop her from reaching the water again for surfing. She got back to board just three weeks after the life-taking attack.

Hamilton has also penned a book later with title ‘Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board.’ The book was also adapted into a movie earlier this year.
