Angelina Jolie's latest project- A film so intense that it makes actors throw up

The Japanese pop star Miyavi who was recruited by Angelina to play the vicious sergeant Matsuhiro of the Japanese Prisoner camp, told the Vanity Fair magazine for its December 2014 cover story that Angelina encouraged him to understand and plumb the depths of his character, and to get into the mindset of a man for whom violence was a everyday thing.

Unbroken is the story of Louis Zamperini who following a jet crash and 47 days at sea, spent nearly two years in the Japanese war camp as a prisoner. His story has become an inspiration world-wide and he was also extremely close to Angelina Jolie in his last days before he died at the age of 97.

Miyavi said that in a scene where he had to beat up Zamperini, played by Jack O’Conell in the film, he had to throw as the scene was so intense, and that after some of the more violent scenes he couldn’t stop crying. Miyavi further said that the film concerns a story that is still painful for his country, but he was assured by Angelina that the purpose of the film was to build bridges, not break them.

The film and the topic is extremely close to Angelina, who is known for her humanitarian efforts for refugees displaced by war as also her closeness to the person on whom the story is. It has been reported that she arranged for a special screening of the movie for Zamperini right before he died.
