Amid rumors that have been doing the rounds for some time now it is officially confirmed. The final and upcoming movie of The Hobbit series has got a new name. Earlier titled ‘There and Back Again’, the film has now been titled ‘Battle of the Five Armies’. Director of the film Peter Jackson has announced on Facebook that the movie has been given a new title. The same was confirmed by Warner Bros., the studio working on the movie. The announcement comes in wake of recent speculation on the possible rechristening of the famous movie franchise.
The new title has been considered more apt to the movie that has a storyline revolving around a huge battle that is waged by the different characters in an epic showdown. So in the movie Hobbit fans can expect to watch elves, goblins or dwarves pitting their warring skills against each other.
Jackson in his Facebook post admitted that The Hobbit trilogy has in some ways been like Bilbo’s own and while the previous title ‘There and Back Again’ felt right it later felt misplaced particularly with the movie’s concept.
Initially the Hobbit franchise had plans to come up with only two movies originally a third was included only once director Jackson made the move to borrow specific characters from ‘Lord of the rings’ series. Using them as the base Jackson added his own story. While the first release in The Hobbit series raked in nearly $1 billion in its worldwide release. The sequel ‘Desolation of Smaug’ didn’t get such good reviews but still managed a decent collection.
Right now the upcoming movie that’s last of The Hobbit’s trilogy has come to the editing stage where final touches are being given. According to sources new scenes to the tune of an extra 25 minutes have been added.
