That Taylor Swift has had a great week needs no saying. Her new album 1989 has sold 1.287 million copies in the first week itself.
It is the only album to sell more than 1 million copies in its first week this year.
So what does Ms. Swift do to celebrate her immense success? You would never have guessed – she does it by rapping!! The pop star posted on Instagram this Tuesday a video of her awkward rapping to the beats Kendrick Lamar’s Backseat Freestyle.
Ms. Swift captioned the video – “Industry experts predicted 1989 would sell 650k first week. You went and bought 1.287 million albums. AND IT’S GOT ME LIKE:”
The video shows the cute singer awkwardly rhyming to the rap beats on the stereo, which is adorable yet funny.
This is not the first time that the pop star has enjoyed mass success; Swift’s album Speak Now sold 1.047 copies in 2010 and her Red album sold 1.208 million in 2012.
But it is her latest album that has created waves, at least with respect to sales figures; no album has sold that many copies since Eminem’s The Eminem Show in 2002.
And only days after releasing 1989 last week, Swift announced her big The 1989 World Tour, which will kick off on May 20, 2015 in Louisiana and go through North America and Europe before hitting the Australian shores in December 2015.
